Jamie’s Most Anticipated Games of 2011
2011 is looking to be an incredible year in gaming, but surprisingly, some people are looking forward to different games than other people. So here is my Most Anticipated Games of 2011.
Call Of Duty – Modern Warfare 3
Yes, this one made Ewan’s list, but considering Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops were such a massive successes, it’s very likely MW 3 will be just as big. Activision have announced that Modern Warfare 3 will be released in November, and it is said that the sequel will pick up where MW 2 left off. It’s safe to say I’m looking forward to seeing what Activision, Infinity Ward and new developer Sledgehammer Games will do with the franchise.
The next game published by controversial publisher/developer Rockstar Games, LA Noire will take place in the 1940’s, 1950’s, as you play as a detective solving various crimes around LA. Add in groundbreaking facial expression technology, Rockstars reputation with open world games, and the fact that every single crime in the game is based on a real crime in LA newspapers in the 1940’s, this is shaping up to be a amazing game.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Ewan also mentioned this in his list, but unlike Ewan I own the previous game, Oblivion, so I will touch on it again here. Oblivion was an incredible game, and by far the best roleplaying game I have ever played, and Skyrim looks set to be just as good. It will be set 200 years after the events of Oblivion, as the land has erupted into civil war and the dragon-god Alduin has risen to destroy the world. You will probably play as the last living Dragonborn (rumoured to be a new race) who has to save Skyrim from destruction. Again, the game use open-world gameplay, and be release early December.
We’ve been hearing about Rage since 2007, but finally, Rage is supposed to be released this year. The FPS/Racer/RPG game sounds more than interesting, especially when you hear the games setting: an apocalyptic wasteland, where tribes of survivors are forced to fight with groups of bandits and mutants. The story has been written by Matthew J Costello, the writer for Doom 3, and being developed by iD Software. A game has also been released for iOS devices, with another coming after the console game’s release.
Duke Nukem Forever
The long awaited next-generation sequel to Duke Nukem 3D’s release date has finally been announced- May 6th, 2011. But what is it that will make this game so good? Well Duke Nukem’s ridiculous action and even more ridiculous jokes will of course be there, but the real question is whether the action will be up to next generation standards.
So now you’ve read both articles, compare them and decide: Which games will you buy this year?
