No iPad 2 launch details? (UPDATED)

As Friday dawns closer upon us, everybody aiming to have an iPad by the end of the 25th are still left with next to no details at all.

I find this quite strage. In the past, Apple has described what is going to happen, when it’s going to happen, basically everything line-goers, or even less drastic people need to know about getting the iPad, iPhone or whatever else they could be launching. The rumor going round at the moment is though, that Apple will be doing the same as they did in the United States, and do a 5 PM launch. This doesn’t sit to well with me. A 5PM launch, means sitting around in a shopping center all day, when there are other people there. Sitting there in the middle of the night, with no annoying kids, old people and families, is a much more enjoyable experience, even if you have to lose a couple hours of sleep for it.

Away from the people who actualy want to buy one in the flesh though now, even online pre-orders aren’t available right now. Apple has said nothing about the price point, or made any contact with (in my case) westfeild doncaster requesting them to open doors early or anything. I can see this would be the same for other shopping center stores.

Apart from all this confusion, which I expect to be cleared up tomorrow or the next day, I’m still looking forward to my iPad 2.

(UPDATE)

So guys, as expected, Apple has announced international launch details in a press conference last night. It will be the 5PM launch at retail stores, however online preorders will be starting from 1AM on Friday morning. Pricing has also been announced, with the 16gb wifi model starting from AU $570 and finishing up with the 64gb 3G model at $949. View the full press release bellow.

It would be sad if we followed the 5pm set in America, it would disturb your plans but also my Indonesian teacher’s plans. At least in Perth the Apple store is not in a shopping centre, unlike your one in Doncaster so we don’t have to wait for information for westfield or some other giant. The prices are also unknown but I have looked at whirlpool where some person has the prices for the various models. I would take these with a grain of salt though.

I hope for you are everybody else wanting an iPad 2 that the store that you will be buying it from has clarified its opening hours and that it it is in a shopping centre, e.g. Westfield Doncaster, that they have talked to the retailer for clear notification to the public.

ps. The time that this was posted might conflict with last period of school :). So heinous.

Yay for certainty! I hope that for Apple and for everybody’s sake that the disaster in Japan doesn’t affect supply too much; otherwise there would be shortages in certain stores and disappointment in people’s hearts.

Gotta hate the 5pm though, would be a big bummer.
